Spring is almost here! And that means it’s time for spring cleaning – that once-a-year activity where we give the house a thorough scrubbing.
We’ll hesitantly uncover and peer into the places that were most uncared for over the year. We’ll probably find dead bugs in the window seals, heating and air filters filled with dust, too small clothes piled up in the kids’ closets, and plenty of clutter that we unavoidably collect each year. As I we clean out, dust, unload, recycle, file and declutter, we will experience an emotional release as we wipe away the past and make room for the new.
Perhaps it’s time to spring clean your relationship, too.
Relationships can become routine and go into auto-drive fairly quickly. This can create places that are uncared for on a regular basis, just like your house. Spring cleaning your relationship brings the opportunity to reevaluate your connection, refocus on your priorities, and clear out all the proverbial “dust” you’ve swept under your rug over the past year.
Just like when you clean the house, you can throw away things that are not useful! In the process, you might just rediscover a few things you’ve lost. A good spring cleaning might be just what your relationship needs.
