Holiday Memorials

The holidays can stir up many different thoughts and feelings. They can remind us of great times we shared with friends and loved ones. How we remember the past has a lot to do with the ways in which we react to situations today. The positive experiences of the past, that brought us happiness, can be associated with moments which happen in the present. However, difficult events, those which brought pain or hurt, oftentimes are relived as well. It becomes extremely important to accept the bad and the good, but keeping in mind a proper perspective in regard to them. Staying stuck in those arduous occurrences sometimes prevents a healthy perspective from being able to take root. Only reflecting on the joyous memories can negate what needed to be understood from the harder ones.

As we learn to accept our earlier years, and the significance they have on us currently, we’re able to adopt a more well-rounded approach to life. We don’t necessarily desire to forget the negative. But we live within ourselves acknowledging that those around us, the environment, and our own decisions, enable us to enjoy life or keep us trapped in uncertainty about whom we are and where we’re headed. So let the holiday memorials of your past allow you to focus on how significant they are to you today.
