An Unfiltered Look at Depression

The Internet can be a strange, scary place. It can be a source of information, a place to laugh at ridiculous videos, a way to connect with others, or a way to spiral into a dark hole. It can be a massive time suck, and it is easy to continue clicking link after link before realizing that several hours have gone by.

Every so often, you’ll stumble across something that allows you to have a glimpse into another person’s hidden life. Such was the case with Allie Brosh’s blog, where she provides a humorous but very real glimpse into what it is like for her to deal with a serious bout of depression (warning: contains adult themes and language that may be offensive).

Depression is an illness that isolates and lies to those affected by it, and it can be incredibly hard for friends and loved ones of a person who is depressed to understand.

Whether you or someone you love struggles with depression, I encourage you to check out her blog, and it might make you laugh, tear up, or simply feel a little less alone.
