Avoiding The Fall Blahs

Now that we’re into the Fall, there may be a tendency for many folks to get caught up in becoming a couch potato and simply allowing precious time to just pass by. As the days become shorter and there’s less daylight to keep us outside, watching TV is an alternative way to spend our time. It’s important, however, to remember there are options which can keep the mind active and the creative energies flowing.

Websites provide extensive resources for finding different things we can do as individuals or with friends and family to stay busy. The more we find to do, the easier it will be to keep our minds healthy. Simple things such as finishing a project (or projects!) left over from the summer would be a good place to start. Taking a drive into the mountains or along the coast can bring a sense of well-being and satisfaction. There may even be that one person who has been trying to get you to go to lunch or to a movie; now may be a good time.

Staying occupied during these days of Fall and into the Winter will assist with establishing a hedge against lethargy and possibly sadness. Being imaginative with one’s time may help that time seem to move faster, getting a person over the hump and closer to springtime when life often seems to begin anew.

It is possible to enjoy this time of year and avoid the Fall blahs.
