The Bond of Sexual Intimacy:
How do partners openly share this bond that means so much to a relationship? Communicating from the beginning, as to what is and what is not acceptable to each is a good start. When one is able to share their feelings about this very important matter, the rest of the relationship stands that much better a chance to succeed. When demands are not made, when compassion and passion are paramount, the desire to respond is more relaxed and enjoyable.
It’s always helpful to remember that it’s not only what one person thinks is pleasurable. Sexual intimacy is a two party affair. The give and take in this closeness creates an emotional base that will last throughout a person’s life, whether good or bad. Any pain or hurt will last just as long, if not longer, as the good that can come from intimacy created through this very significant tie that two people share.
