Do you often judge your body? Do you easily find the flaws and “ugliness” of yourself? These actions can be described as a “dysmorphia” which means that a person may experience misperceptions in their appearance. This article is interesting because it states that those who demonstrate dysmorphic thoughts about themselves can also have difficulty processing visual information accurately. Because an individual sees themselves as distorted, they can generalize, therefore seeing everything else as distorted.
Women (and some men) constantly are attacking their body image. Are you one of them? Are you aware that you can also perceive other aspects of your life incorrectly?
Focusing on the positive things in our life can help reverse this. I encourage you to wake up everyday and say OUT LOUD one positive characteristic about yourself. What will your positive statement be tomorrow?
