Summer time is a popular time for people to begin training regimes. Maybe you’re training for a 5K, triathlon, or you’re like me and beginning the process of preparing for a half-marathon. Whatever the activity is, it is important to be knowledgeable about the training process as well as knowing your body! According to Running Advisor, running is a “mind game” and they clearly state that if you seek the motivation and the desire to run, success with surely follow.
In the next five weeks, I will be doing a series called Training Zone. Throughout the series, I will be offering you tips and helpful motivation in order for you to be and feel great…just the way you are! So let’s kick off the series with the first 2 tips for optimal training:
- 1. Set Goals. Be specific, set a deadline, be realistic but challenging to obtain your goals, write and review your goals, develop a plan and work it (just do it!)
- 2. Utilize a Training Log. Record times, distance, time of day, weather, pulse, and progress towards your goals. Doing this allows you to monitor your progress and learn from your mistakes.
